Assistant Coach - Infielders
Following a decorated high school coaching career, area veteran coach Jerry Hites joined the college ranks as a member of the Storm baseball staff in 2013. He will serve as Head Coach Brian McGee's bench coach and work on-field with the team's catchers.
Most recently he was the head coach at Fairport Harbor High School for 12 seasons, compiling a 252-87 record with 11 section championships, eight district finals appearances and four regional appearances. He led his team to eight conference titles. At Fairport he also served as the athletic director and head girls basketball, softball and golf coach during his time at the school.
A native of Fairport Harbor, Hites earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Edinboro University where he played for the Fighting Scots baseball team. Before that he played a season at Lakeland Community College under current Storm women’s basketball coach Bob Booher.
Hites and his wife, Amy, have four children – Corey (21), Colin (17), CJ (15) and Caleb (14).
Graduate Assistant Coach - Hitters / Outfielders
Jared Franklin joined the Storm coaching staff in the fall of 2016 after several years of coaching experience.
Before joining the Storm, Franklin served as the Head Coach of the Madisonville Miners in Kentucky, a college summer league team. Franklin led the Miners to their highest win total in franchise history (26) in 2016. While in Kentucky, Franklin also served as the Head Coach at Webster County High School, as well as a regional scout for the Texas Rangers.
Franklin has coached at several colleges as an Assistant Coach in his career, including Defiance College, Southeastern Illinois College, Texas A&M International University and Ohio Wesleyan University. He has also coached at IMG Baseball Academy and served as the Head Coach of the Cheyenne Grizzlies, a college summer league team.
Graduate Assistant - Pitchers
Stephen Hart joined the Storm coaching staff in the fall of 2017.
Before joining the Storm, Coach Hart worked with head coach Cameron Castro, as a trainer and coach at Driveline Baseball, an advanced pitching research company that designs programming and consults on player development for over 25 Division I programs, 75 professional clients and multiple MLB organizations. At Driveline, Coach Hart worked hands on with athletes ranging from the junior college level to affiliate baseball, helping design and execute training programs in the summer and winter months.
Hart graduated from the University of Scranton with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2015. He was also a 4 year letter winner on the baseball team serving as a relief pitcher. Coach Hart has earned accreditation from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
Coach Hart is currently working towards earning his master’s degree in business administration at Lake Erie.
